Hi, my name is Gabby
When I used to think about the word “failure”, I would cringe. Hard. I hated the word.
However, as a recovering perfectionist, failure is what I want to talk about today. I’ve been going through the perfectionist healing process and am now realizing that without failure there is no growth!
This section is about failure
“It is absolutely essential to create a culture where it is not only acceptable, but expected, to fail sometimes. If you or your employees are never failing, that means they are never learning, and you are nowhere near as successful as you could be.”
This section spoke to me because it is preaching equal parts truth and comfort. How calming is it to know that there is a reasonable expectation of failure in the workplace? You won’t be fired, barraged, or put down. You’ll be helped, supported, and met with help from those who have had similar failures.
If you are never allowed to fail, you will only do things that are within your comfort zone. You won’t try anything new and therefore, won’t grow!
The best way to learn is from your own mistakes and failures but learning from other people’s is just fine too!
So, flip the narrative. We should talk about failure.
Share your most recent failure and let’s learn from each other!
