About the Data Storyteller:
Brian Gentile has been building and leading technology companies for 35 years. His career spans leading global companies such as NCR Corporation, Apple, and Sun Microsystems (now Oracle), mid-sized software companies such as Brio Software, Informatica Corporation and TIBCO Software, and start-ups such as Jaspersoft. Most recently, Mr. Gentile was the Senior Vice President and General Manager of the TIBCO Analytics product group of TIBCO Software, where he used his nearly 15 years of Analytics and Business Intelligence software experience to build and implement a more modern strategy for TIBCO’s multi-product analytics portfolio. Prior to TIBCO, Mr. Gentile helped to build and lead Jaspersoft Corporation, the leading commercial open source business analytics software company, based in San Francisco. His work with Jaspersoft began in 2005 as an independent Board member. Then, in 2007, he became CEO and later, Chairman. During his tenure, Jaspersoft became the open source business intelligence software market leader, measured by commercial success and growth, production deployments of its software, the size and vibrancy of its community, and total product downloads. In April 2014, Mr. Gentile led Jaspersoft’s acquisition by TIBCO Software, where he continued for two years leading the Company’s Analytics Products Division. Currently, Mr. Gentile serves as Chairman for two private software companies while also coaching software CEOs as a Managing Director with 10X CEO, a boutique, silicon valley-based CEO coaching practice. Additionally, Brian acts as an Industry Advisor to both the private investment firm of Kohlberg, Kravis & Roberts (KKR) and an upstart venture capital fund called Pomegranate Ventures. Most of Brian’s time and focus is with CEOs and senior executives on matters of Strategy, Leadership Development, and Go-to-Market excellence. Brian’s professional affiliations include nearly seven years as a Public Governor on the board of the Pacific Stock & Options Exchange (now owned by the New York Stock Exchange) and two years as a public member of the NYSE (ARCA’s) Ethics and Business Conduct Committee. Additionally, Mr. Gentile has provided Advisory or Independent Board member involvement for many Silicon Valley start-up ventures. In addition to studying Computer Science (with no degree awarded), Brian has earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Degree from the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management and a Master of Business Administration Degree from Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business.
