The Woman Behind the Email
By: Brooke Landrum
Hello! I am very excited to introduce you to Gabby Dallecarbonare.
You may know her as the woman you get emails from on behalf of Narrative Science. Here, we know her as a ray of sunshine in black nail polish spreading good energy around the office.
I did a little interview with her to help you get to know the face behind the emails.
What is your role?
I am a Sales Development Rep on the Lexio team. My main responsibility is to initiate kick-ass conversations with people to see if we can help them solve problems using our technology! The fact that we are spearheading a new category of AI is one of the most exciting things I’ve done throughout my adulting career.
How long have you been at NS?
I have been here a little over a year and a half! I remember my first day like it was yesterday. It’s been such an amazing and rewarding experience. We have had so much change with me switching over to the Lexio team and that’s one of the reasons I love working at Narrative Science. I have so many opportunities to grow and focus on my strengths.
What brought you here?
Coming from a corporate, fortune 500 company – there were so many things that attracted me to NS! When I found the open sales position on LinkedIn I was baffled by the impact on the world of AI and knew I wanted a piece of it. There is no other company out there that was helping other businesses like we are. Plus, every single person I spoke to throughout the interview process was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. Everyone from the recruiter to the COO actually listened to what I had to say and got to KNOW me instead of just checking boxes. And a year and a half later that rings true to the core. The culture here is one of a kind!
What are your favorite parts of the job?
I love initiating conversations in creative ways with people. It’s a challenge. I know I am bringing something valuable to them. I get fired up when we peel back the layers of someone’s business to see if our technology is the solution. I wouldn’t be as excited to email 100 people a day if I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to change the way their business works and make their lives easier.
I love the people! The culture here is something I never thought I would find. It’s such a hard-working, focused and free-thinking environment. It is built on trust and high expectations. Everyone working for Narrative Science is on the same page when understanding that we are all on the same mission.
What is your favorite color?
Blue, sky blue specifically. I am a BIG dreamer and am constantly thinking about the life I want to build. So, because of this, I spend a lot of time staring off into space and spend most of my free time outside. Some of my favorite daydreams happen while getting lost in the clouds…literally. Hence, sky blue.
What are you passionate about?
My passion is helping people. I was brought up in a household where you were always thinking about giving more to the people who have less. Donating time and resources when I can are a huge part of where I spend my free time. Making a difference in people’s lives, whether you know them or not, is definitely something that fills my cup. This past month I sponsored a child in Honduras! She is adorable and her name is Cinthia:
What is your favorite movie?
My childhood favorite is The Lion King.
My current favorite is Eat, Pray, Love.
If you were on a deserted island, who in the office would you want to be stranded with?
Stef! She is sharp as shit, a problem solver, and not to mention one of the funniest humans I’ve ever met! We would figure out how to survive and have a blast doing it. She would also keep me sane with daily meditations, yoga flows, and long conversations about dreaming out loud.
Who is your role model?
One of my good friends, Kelsey. She is a phenomenal mom of two, married to a wonderful man, and an entrepreneur. The way she leads and walks through life with such purpose and grace is what I strive for. She knows where she’s going and exactly how she is going to get there – all while taking the bumps of life in stride. She is relentless in pursuing her passions and is one of the biggest dreamers I’ve ever met.
Any fun facts about you that you’d like to share?
My full name has more letters than the alphabet. So, that is usually my fun fact.
How you can meet her…
Gabby is one of the amazing and lucky team members who will be attending Dreamforce as part of the Narrative Science entourage. If you want to chat with her (or her desert island partner, Stef) about The Lion King, charity work, or maybe even Lexio, send her a message. I promise it’ll be one of the best conversations you have at the conference.
